Highest point of our area reaches 273 meters at the place called “Les Etourneaux”.

The origins of the name of the commune comes from the Latin “pietra fista” (fixed stone), a flat stone supposedly buried underneath the church. The Bell Tower of the Church is highly inclined with 1.5 m of false self-confidence.

One of the two mills located on the river “Notre Heure” still works ; today it supplies an electricity generator.

Pierrefitte is especially known for its “Foire aux Chieuves”, taking place every year on May the 1st. Since 1984, the Brotherhood of “Escargotiers” promotes this animal food.
